Eligibility:
Applicants must be Australian residents, with evidence of Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or holding an eligible Humanitarian Visa.
The applicant must have received formal acceptance into the selected course prior to submitting a scholarship application.
The applicant must be experiencing significant financial hardship and must have thoroughly explored and exhausted all available resources. Without further assistance, they would be unable to continue their education.
Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of an eligible visa.
Provide verifiable evidence of financial or personal disadvantage, which may include:
Financial difficulty or low socioeconomic status (e.g., Centrelink statements, payslips, bank statements, Centrelink concession cards, if applicable).
A disability or medical condition.
A delay or interruption to career or studies due to family responsibilities, illness, or other circumstances beyond their control.
The applicant must demonstrate that they have exhausted all available resources and are unable to pursue a payment plan at Bendigo Kangan Institute to finalize their enrolment without the assistance of the scholarship.
Other Terms and Conditions:
The scholarship may provide up to $500 towards tuition fees to assist with course-related expenses for the academic year at Kangan Institute. The scholarship does not cover expenses such as stationery, laptops, internet, travel, accommodation, police and WWC checks, or other external costs required for study. Scholarships will be awarded based on available funding, individual needs, capacity to complete the course, and acceptance into the program, through a thorough case-by-case assessment.
Submission of a scholarship application does not guarantee funding. The scholarship amount may vary, with $500 being the maximum award.
Successful applicants will be notified within two weeks of submitting a completed scholarship application.
Applicants must have a formal letter of offer for their chosen course before applying for the scholarship.
If the applicant defers their course, the scholarship will become void.
The scholarship is applicable only to the enrolled course and is non-transferable to another course.
Scholarships are non-redeemable for cash or bank deposits and cannot be used to pay a deposit for a Payment Plan.
If a student fails a unit of competency, they will be responsible for any enrolment or associated fees for resitting that unit. If the scholarship has been awarded and the student subsequently withdraws from the course, any scholarship funds previously awarded will be returned to the Bendigo Kangan Institute scholarship fund.
For applicants under the age of 18, permission from a parent or guardian is required before accepting the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
Successful outcomes depend on the applicant providing valid written evidence/documentation to substantiate claims of severe financial hardship and/or personal disadvantage. Applicants may be asked to share sensitive financial or personal information to support their application.
Additional documentation may be requested to verify that the applicant has fully investigated all other eligible funding resources, such as payment plans offered by the Institute, external loans, personal savings, grants, or Centrelink advances, and has been declined or deemed ineligible. Applicants must demonstrate that all other options have been exhausted prior to submission for the scholarship to be considered.
