Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following conditions to be eligible for the scholarship:
The applicant must be a local/Domestic student with Australian residency.
Applications are accepted year-round, from January to December.
The applicant must be
currently enrolled at Bendigo Kangan Institute and have a current payment plan
DEBT, or demonstrate that they are unable to meet future repayments, due to unforeseen circumstances. * (Accounts that have been sent to debt collection, may not be eligible)
Eligibility for Domestic Students:
The applicant must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a humanitarian visa.
The applicant must provide substantial evidence of financial or personal disadvantage. Eligible disadvantages may include:
Financial hardship (e.g., payslips, Centrelink statements, bank statements, or Centrelink concession cards) as detailed in a personal statement.
Disruptions to studies due to compassionate reasons (e.g., death in the immediate family, family violence, homelessness). Acceptable evidence includes a death certificate, eviction notice, personal statement, or statutory declaration.
The applicant must be currently enrolled at Bendigo Kangan Institute. Scholarships are capped at a maximum of $500 per student.
Terms and Conditions:
The scholarship may provide financial support to be put towards any current payment plan
debt for tuition fees, materials/consumables fees incurred, for the duration of study at Bendigo Kangan Institute.
Submission of any Scholarship does not guarantee the applicant $500, this amount
will vary up to $500 as the maximum amount. The scholarship
will notcover stationary, laptop/internet, travel, accommodation, police and WWC checks, or any other external purchases required for study). Scholarships will be awarded based on available funding, individual needs, capacity to complete, and acceptance into the course, through extensive case by case assessment.
Deferring the course will make the scholarship void.
The scholarship is to be used for one course and cannot be transferred to another course.
Scholarship awarded are not redeemable for cash, bank deposits.
If a student fails a unit of competency from the course, they will incur any enrolment or other fees associated with resitting that unit. If a scholarships has been granted and a withdrawal is later approved , allscholarship money previously awarded for the relevant course,will be returned to BKI’s scholarship fund, not the applicant/student.
If the successful student is under the age of 18, the applicant must have permission from their parent/guardian before accepting the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
Successful outcomes will rely on the applicant providing legitimate written evidence/documentation, to help verify an applicants claim of severe financial hardship and/or personal disadvantage. Applicants can be asked to share and provide copy of sensitive information pertaining to financial and personal records.
Further information/documentation can be requested to help demonstrate that the applicant has thoroughly investigated all other eligible resources/funding prior to submitting a scholarship application, and as a result has been declined or deemed ineligible. e i.e Institute payment plans/ or other external payment plan/loan schemes, personal savings, external resources, i.e funding/grants, Centrelink advances etc. Applicants must prove that they have exhausted all other eligible options, prior to submission to be successful.
